Where is Cronos: The New Dawn?

I didn’t expect to encounter a situation that so perfectly represents why I wanted to set this website up, but then along came Cronos: The New Dawn, the newest horror game from Bloober Team, developers of The Medium, Layers of Fear, and the recent Silent Hill 2 remake.

Cronos was announced as having a macOS version, as seen here on a few different gaming news websites, such as Screenrant, and this article from Bloober Team’s website.

Well, Cronos came out officially today, on September 5th, 2025, just like everywhere said. I know this to be true as well, because I bought the game on Xbox, through the Microsoft Store.

Well, where’s the Mac version? Let’s check the Mac App Store.

Huh. Alright… it’s not there. Maybe it’s on Steam

What the fuck. Where the hell is the macOS version and why is there no official word from anyone?! This game was mentioned at WWDC 2025, but apparently neither Bloober Team nor Apple give a shit.

Said WWDC mentioning of the game

I imagine it’ll come at a later date, and by that time, everyone will have played through the game on another platform, or through something such as Crossover, or hell, even a SteamDeck. Anything other than a Mac, despite the hardware being perfectly capable.

I don’t want to set a precedent of unhealthy ranting, but this is exactly the sort of thing that needs to be called out for the failure that it is.

We are entering an era where games are begging to be on every platform possible to recoup ballooning development costs, and console prices are getting uncontrollable. A lot of us have Apple Silicon laptops perfectly capable of running real games just fine. See: The entire Resident Evil remake series.

I guess I’ll check it out on Mac when it launches in another 600 years.
