What?
Gaming in the Garden was established to provide more information to those that want to use Apple devices to play real video games. Apple’s ecosystem is often described as a “Walled Garden”, so the name seemed fitting!
Our target audience is geared towards more “serious” players. We aren’t going to talk about casual touch or micro-transaction pusher games. Instead, we’ll be focusing on games more akin to what you would play on a modern game console. Think the Resident Evil Remakes, Control, Alien Isolation, etc.
Just to set expectations, we’re covering native Apple games. There are plenty of websites with scores of people trying to get Windows games running with CrossOver or Parallels out there. That is not the focus here. I’d rather see more native versions of games than simply see Windows APIs become the standard for gaming.
It’s also worth saying our focus here is the Mac and iOS App Store. If a game isn’t released on there, we’ll adjust accordingly, but unfortunately, Steam and GOG are not amazing experiences on the Mac, and aren’t on iOS at all (at least, for now). These storefronts and what they have to offer are better covered elsewhere. We’re native Apple everything here, for better (or for worse).
Why?
There is a dearth of decent information on living the gamer life through Apple gear. Most sites out there focus only on the Macintosh platform and ignore iOS, and it’s time the word got out on how capable these platforms are.
Where?
Right now, there is just this website. There will be no social media account promotion as I find these companies reprehensible and don’t want them profiting off my work.
Who?
I’m phrequencyviii and I also run Deprecated Gaming. I’ve been gaming since I was a kid in the early 90s, and I’ll admit my main platform for games is actually Microsoft’s Xbox…but it doesn’t mean I can’t dabble in this niche! Check out my blog here.
